Design award for Le Squez 2c
Le Squez 2c was recently highly commended at the AJA 2015 Design Awards in the category of Best Large Scale Development.
The Jersey Architecture Design Awards are held every two years to celebrate and promote the quality of design created and achieved by Jersey architects, designers, and developers. The Awards are open to anybody involved in a project they feel has contributed positively to the built environment of Jersey and the entries are assessed by judges organised by the Jersey Architecture Commission.
Le Squez 2c began in January 2012 with AC Mauger as main contractor building 10 one bedroom flats, 9 two bedroom flats, 2 three bedroom flats and 3 three bedroom houses, together with a communal courtyard with planted areas and seating.. The work was carried out as part of the Regeneration Scheme commissioned by the States of Jersey to create good quality and sustainable homes and the project completed in the third quarter of 2014.
Deputy Andrew Green MBE, Housing Minister at the time of completion said "The regeneration programme at Le Squez is a very exciting project. It is more than just delivering new homes, it is important to note that we are making some significant social and environmental improvements that will make the estate a much nicer place to live."
The judges at the 2015 Design Awards commented that:
"This project is comparable to Award winning UK social housing. Town Houses and small apartment blocks give sense of individuality, creating a better social environment by using smaller blocks interspersed with communal areas, with a good balance between private and public amenity space. Highly Commended as a good example of social housing on par with national [UK] standards."
AC Mauger congratulate the architects for Le Squez Phase 2c - Dyson and Buesnel Architects.
