New Era at Style Group
As the Channel Islands’ construction sector feels the positive effects of a recovering economy, Style Group has made two executive appointments that will ensure the firm is well-placed to grow as economic confidence returns.
Leading Style Group into this new era as Chief Executive will be Edward Poynton, who will maintain his role as Managing Director of Style Windows. James Joseph has taken a new role as Managing Director of AC Mauger Construction. Style Group currently caters for its clients via six separate divisions: Style Windows, Style Homes, Style Office, Style Shopfitting, AC Mauger Small Works and AC Mauger Construction, the major contracts division of Style Group.
Edward Poynton is the son of John Poynton, who founded Style Group in the 1970s. Whilst stepping down from his executive position, John will remain as non-executive Chairman of the group, ensuring that his decades of experience in Jersey’s construction industry are always available to the executive team.
“We are extremely positive about the future of the Style Group of companies”, said Edward Poynton. “With the support of our experienced teams, we have worked hard to ensure that the company has come through the heat of the recession in good health and we are confident of maintaining the Style Group’s position as a premier construction firm in Jersey.
“With my father still on board as Chairman, we have an excellent balance to make the most of the improving economic conditions, whilst also maintaining the family values and ethos that have guided Style throughout the decades.”
James Joseph moves into position as Managing Director AC Mauger Construction, having previously worked as Contracts Director. He began his career with the Royal Marines where he trained as an engineer and after leaving, he became a site engineer and then a quantity surveyor. In this latter role, he gained invaluable experience in the financial aspects of construction projects and has also gained a degree in Construction Management.
From quantity surveying, James moved into project management and then contracts management before moving to Jersey seven years ago. James, who is a keen triathlete, lives in St Clement with his wife and two children.
Edward Poynton has worked with Style Group for seven years. He holds two degrees, one in Business and Commerce and the other in Construction Management. Edward lives with his wife and new-born son in St Martin.
Commenting on the changes at Style Group, John Poynton, Group Chairman, said: “As we come out of the economic downturn, this is the ideal time to introduce a change in leadership. Style Group has always been a family company that is proud all of the positive values that this brings. “I’m delighted that Edward has agreed to take over as Chief Executive and with James at the helm of AC Mauger, the Group is in the best hands to ensure that we seize the opportunities of a newly revived economy.”
